We often hear that people may be afraid to fail. Failing to me is knowing what to do and not succeeding at getting it down. There will be way more successes than failures in your career. Most people are smart and make a lot more good decisions than bad decisions. Being afraid to succeed is when you chose not to go down a path that you are confident will help. Maybe you don't know everything about the solution to the problem. Maybe you feel like it is too big a problem to tackle. It is not that you are afraid to take it on and fail, it is more that you don't know that you should take it on. Status quo will get you no where, in business you must continually challenge the accepted and the current state. How else will you move forward? Take it on. A CEO of mine used to say "take the decision." I asked if he meant "make the decision," as english was not his first language. He corrected me and re-iterated you must take the decision before you can make a decision. If you do not decide to undergo a project you cannot fail, but you will also not succeed. Lesson - don't be afraid to succeed.
